Effects Of Unhealthy Eating

By Connor A. of PJMS

According to Paula Quinene, one effect of unhealthy eating is diabetes. Eating foods with carbohydrates or glucose makes your body produce insulin, however with the quickly digesting simple carbs the insulin production is much larger. Therefore if your diet has a lot of simple carbs such as sugar, your body will begin to require more and more insulin.

Another effect is high blood pressure, salty foods can cause high blood pressure, when you have too much sodium in your diet, your kidneys will hold more water. This increase will increases the amount of blood in your system, therefore causing you blood pressure to increase.

One more effect is atherosclerosis; this is the buildup of plaque on the walls of your arteries this makes them unable to expand (Quinene). Normally when your heart pumps your arteries expands. However, the plaque prevents them from expanding which puts more stress on your heart and can lead to heart attacks.

The most obvious effect is obesity, which is when you consume more calories than you burn; this causes your body to store the calories as fat.
