Common Diet MisconceptionsIsaac J. of PJMSIn society, there are common misconceptions of what a good diet should consist of. Whether it’s the foods you eat or how you eat them, these misconceptions are often overlooked. Harvard School of Public Health made published an article named “What Should I Eat?” containing all of the do’s and don’ts of eating. It pinpoints exactly what should and should not eat. For example, while many might think that carbs, fat, and alcohol should be avoided completely for a good diet to be maintained. There are actually benefits to consuming these in moderation, or only consuming certain kinds of these things. The article also shows the best foods to eat in certain categories, like suggesting fish, poultry, nuts and beans for good sources of protein. There are also misconceptions in the way we change our diet. An article on helpguide.org mentions tips on how to create a healthy diet. For example, the article suggests starting out slow when it comes to healthy eating, rather than completely cutting out foods that are bad for you all at once. Other tips included in the article talk about moderation and how only you can decide how much you should eat based on your previous eating habits. Overall, there are many misconceptions in the world of dieting and healthy eating. It’s important to understand the rights and wrongs and make choices that lead to a healthy lifestyle.
